I bought a 2015 XLT 4x4 screw 5.0L with 65k miles on it. Truck is like brand new, well cared for, was a fleet vehicle for an oil & gas company. Had mostly highway miles checking gas & oil wells in eastern CO. It had everything I wanted to tow my camper & the color inside and out. Paid $25,622 plus taxes last May. Great truck! Would do it again tomorrow.

Good luck finding your truck.

@velosprints Mileage is one thing but buying one that fits your "needs" is important too. What are they: Tow, Haul, Off Road, Need 4X4?
I had a 2015, and traded up to the 2018 for mostly creature comforts (passenger's seat, dual zone control HVAC, Adaptive Cruise). There was nothing wrong with the 2015 but traveling with a comfortable passenger has made for a more quiet drive.

i do have some “creature comfort” requirements, and that’s why I need to stick with the Lariat. I need push to start. That’s it. It’s too bad, the XLT offers everything else I want, but I have to step up in trim level and spend a lot more money in order to get the PTS.

That of course is if you get a 15 which I personally wouldn't do.

Consider a 13-14.

That's what I did. Fully loaded Lariat SuperCrew with 42k

$29.5 via auto trader.

drove 15 hours roundtrip to get her.

I find it interesting that '13 had that many more complaints than '14. It was higher than '15 as well. You also have to look into the reasoning of complaints as well, and not just the overall number. The highest complaint for '15 was Transmission>Hard Downshift. OK? I've has several Ford vehicles and they all shifted down hard. Never affected the performance of the vehicle. Never required a fix/work.

The next complaint was for seat cooling issues. Yeah, I think that one got a lot of publicity. However, what % of trucks even had that option? I'm sure very few trucks, overall, were affected by that issue.

Move over to '13: Number one complaint was Engine>Shudder and Loss of power. That's a real problem. Next was brakes>Rotors need replaced. Not sure if that was initial, crappy quality, or just general maintenance and people are complaining about nothing. Then brakes> brake failure. I'd say that's a real problem too.

I guess what I'm getting at is that one has to dive into the details to form an educated opinion on what are the real issues at hand. Based on what I found above, I'd gladly take a '15 over a '13 just from that standpoint. Not to mention the added fuel mileage/lighter weight of the aluminum body. Added to that, I have experience with one first year model build, an 2001 Escape. Mind you, this wasn't just a new platform of an existing vehicle, but a brand new vehicle to Ford. I beat the living crap out of that car for over 100,000 miles and now my younger cousin is doing the same. I believe it's got over 160,000 miles and it has not had one major issue. So, I just don't agree when I hear of the "stay away from first year models".

good points. you also have to look into things deeper....like the shudder was for EB and not NA.

I just bought a 2015 Ford F-150 with 72k miles for a little over 30k. I did have a bad coils and spark plug issues but I love the truck and now it drives great and puts a huge smile on my face.

I personally love the look of the 2015 and newer fords. I know they say not to buy trucks when they make changes that first year but oh well. I feel they all can have some problems at some point. I mean no disrespect but I probably would have went with a different brand had I picked below year 2015.

Good luck and I hope you find what your looking for.

I could just say "mostly highway miles!!!11" for any vehicle I'm selling just to spice it up. Just ignore that.
