Absolutely true, being stuck in mud or snow is the open dif/traction control downfall, the traction control can't always overcome the lack of traction or cuts power and your tires won't clean out.

I have only been 'stuck' once (I wasn't stuck but was pulling a stuck vehicle out) but I had to use both 4x4 and Elocker to get them out lol.

Wet roads today, fortunately not frozen. I got into the go pedal a few times, not to the floor, but I wanted to see what kind of traction I had with the F-150 in 2WD. First, I'll say that the often maligned Hankooks had great wet traction, very secure feeling. And not real willing to spin a tire, unlike my old 2004 open-diff Ram (it had the Hemi and it was easy to spin a tire on a wet road). I finally provoked a little wheelspin when I took off at a stop sign. The traction control hooked up almost immediately and suppressed the wheel spin. It just dug in and took off. Again, not pedal to the metal, but I pushed it pretty hard before it lost traction.

I got the back end to nudge out just a bit in a right-hand turn with a little throttle-induced oversteer, but it was very well controlled. It didn't kick out hard - it just eased a little bit to the left and I easily kept it in check with a small amount of counter-steer. Very nice.

I know - I'm hijacking the thread a little.
