360 Camera recalibration frustrations
Hi all, I have avoided US made vehicles for the past 30 years but decided to get an F150 recently. 2017 Platinum. Been fixing small issues every week but almost have it completely working properly except for the 360 camera which does not work due to the rear camera being replaced 2 years ago by the previous owner. I have all the codes from Forscan showing that recalibration is needed. I don't have the mats to do it so I took it to the Ford dealership. Had a reservation for Monday morning. 2 days later, they have not even looked at it yet and they say they have to do their own diagnostics first, for $209, before attempting anything. They are not sure they will get to it tomorrow.
So, I am thinking of just getting it out of there right away as they seem incompetent. Are all Ford Service departments like this? Should I take it somewhere else or just say, screw the 360 camera feature? Do any Indies do this type of work? I never had service delays with my Toyota's, Kia's, BMW's or Nissan's. I get one Ford and not happy.

sound installation shop. hmmm. interesting. I have not found any in my area which advertises ADAS calibrations as a service. There are a few ADAS calibration specific places but appear to be mobile units or home based LLC's. Does anyone know of an ADAS calibration indie shop in the Alpharetta area north of Atlanta?
I understand. Its frustrating though because they asked how I know it needs calibration and gave them the printouts of the codes pulled. Plus, they held the truck for 2 days without doing anything. So I did go pick up the truck yesterday at the end of the day and told them we need to have a better schedule in place rather than me just leaving it with them for who knows how many days before they even look at it. I need an indie
There are independent operators that do all sorts of electronic work. Smaller body shops use them often. Suggest asking there or check with an auto glass shop and have somebody besides your Dealer do the work.
I have reached out to a few but all the windshield places say they only do the recalibration as it relates to the windshield, not the rear camera or the 360 surround setup. I have called 3 places but 1 was mobile and was not familiar with a location in my area where he could do the test indoors, another was a kid out of his parents basement who does it in his back yard but didn't have the Ford mats, and another which didn't seem to really know what he was doing and could not explain the process. so i must be contacting the wrong folks

Honestly, I understand your frustration, but what the dealership is doing isn't necessarily abnormal. Charging for a diagnostic check before any work is now the norm, especially for an electronic issue like a 360° camera, which often requires precise recalibration and specialized equipment.

I had some of the same issues at the Ford in Stuart, Fl....mine was there for 18 days, and nothing was done...for 2000, they will fix it...
my forscan will calibrate the cameras and system...
Go to YouTube and type in 'program 360° cameras with Forscan'
