3.5 surging under throttle

Default 3.5 surging under throttle

I seen on here where drilling a hole in intercooler helped surging
can't anyone elaborate on this is have new plugs coils etc. 14 f150 ecoboost lariat 4x4

the intercooler gets full of oily gunk when you step on the gas all that crap gets sucked into the intake drilling that small hole allows all the crap to get blown out and does not effect boost etc. also dual catch cans will make a big difference
