You need to do this instead

Lipo batteries self ignite when overcharged, and are a MF to put out once started.

Here's what happens when a fully charged one is shorted

Obviously my sarcasm didn't make it through, Now, if I really wanted to burn my junk to the ground, there are easier ways than the obvious gas and a road flare technique.

Well no luck with the Paul Miller Service Center in Lexington. They called me on 12/31/18 after running the same troubleshooting steps they did the first time and were unable to identify the root cause. Now both times the battery has been dead and they've charged it and tested it and it comes back good. It seems to be that something is causing the battery to drain and that would be a good entry point to troubleshoot from, or maybe replace the battery, but instead they've told me they can't find anything wrong with it. I'm on my way to pick it up and taking it directly to Dutch's Ford in Mt. Sterling where I bought the truck. I'm writing a letter to Ford to formally notify them this vehicle is 50% of its way on meeting qualifications for a "lemon" in the state of KY with no indication of resolution in sight. Updates as relevant details become available.

I don't think they will really care until that number is 110%. Keep every record on visits and time out of service.

Good batteries don't just go dead for no reason, so to me that should be a clue something isn't right. And when the battery goes dead you usually lose any codes even if there was some.

I agree, and so it seems does the dealership where I bought the vehicle. I took it to Dutch's in Mt. Sterling after I picked it up from Paul Miller in LEX this evening and I will say I feel I got a lot more personal attention at Dutch's. The Service Center manager said he would recommend replacing the battery as he'd heard of AGM ones being bad. So we did that and they sent me out with the vehicle and feeling of a more personal interest in ensuring whatever is wrong gets resolved. It's back in my possession and due to all the driving I do for work, I'll have plenty of opportunity to test it.

On a semi-related note, the dealership in Lexington, Paul Miller, put 1300 miles on my truck while they had it. I guess they were testing it and had to drive it to Florida (sarcasm). But to add insult to injury, they left me on an empty tank of gas and then wrote down the wrong mileage on the summary sheet. I called them and am waiting for the Service shop manager to call me back. Having the correct in/out mileage may be very important and we need to ensure we've got the facts straight. And then leaving me on 50 miles to Empty didn't make me feel appreciated either. (The tank was near full when it quit and I had to have it towed in.)

Updates as relevant.
