Default 2018 Mirror Spotlight Issue

Recently purchased my first used F150

2018 XLT 3.5 Ecoboost
302A Sport 4x4

that said I noticed that the truck has the puddle lights and Spotlights however when it seems that the puddle lights work but the spotlights are not. The backlit buttons are not lighting up either.

naturally the first thing I check is the fuse but just want to verify the spotlight module is in fact the fuse for the mirror spotlight?

if not what fuse relates to it?

Are you trying to use them while driving? The can’t be used above 5 mph by default.

I’ve recently ran a switched power wire from the large plug in spot J1 at the bcm fuse box as shown in your link to keep the spotlights on above 5 mph. The wire tied back to the spotlight module that is under the steering wheel. There were no fuses I could see. There was another harness I had to plug in at the module that I’m sure just bypassed whatever wire it was that previously controlled the spotlight module. Someone more knowledgeable should be able to better explain this pic I just took.

Can’t believe I left that wire and one zip tie looking like that, then posted it too. 🤣 😳 Gonna have to fix that tomorrow.

Got it figured out, I was unaware that the truck could not have the lights set to auto in order for them to work

wait, what?? Yes, you can have the headlights set to auto. The spotlights work independently of the headlights and will turn on, so long as you’re below 5 mph.

I feel like I gave you a very comprehensive answer. Check out your owners manual for more in. Good luck.
