Default 2016 radio issue

yesterday when I got home from work my radio was working fine. today when I left for work the radio did not turn on. The buttons light up but t he screen is off.. I press the power button and nothing happens. The buttons and the ones on the steering wheel do nothing. I turned the car off, removed the key and opened the door to turn everything off and started the car again but it still is off. Any ideas?

I have not modified it in any way. Its only 6 months old.

This has happened to me a few times. Radio will either not work completely, or it will be on but I can't change any settings/stations/volume or even turn it off. Appears to coincide with the SYNC Bluetooth not functioning so I wonder if it is a SYNC issue. Was going to call my dealer about it but like you, next time I turned on my truck it worked.

I have a 2016 as well.

It's happened to several folks. I don't think anyone knows exactly why.

I bought my truck in April. It did it once in May, and again in June. But it hasn't done it since. Both times I just shut it off for 10 minutes or so and it came back on.

Humm.. Interesting. a week after I bought the truck I had the bluetooth Sync issue. I would answer from my phone but the audio would go to the phone and no the radio even if the bluetooth was connection. the radio showed the phone connected during the call but the audio did not work. I went to the dealer and they factory reset it. I have not had that issue since.

I was hoping I did not mess anything up because I just added Train Horns but we did not touch any internal devices just ran one power wire to the battery and that was it. But now since it works i guess I am ok..

This happened to me multiple times over the last 4000 miles or so and there's another thread with a lot of people having the same problem: https://www.f150forum.com/f118/why-c...o-turn-337907/

As far as I can tell there isn't a fix available from Ford and people have been told by Ford mechanics that they haven't heard of this being a problem.

Picked up my brand new truck 9 days ago. It has happened to my twice already, both coincidentally happened on a Tuesday. Both times the system worked again after parking, turning off the engine and letting it sit for 15 minutes plus.

I did nothing different either time than what I typically do when I get into my truck and start it that I can pinpoint. The screen is dark from the moment I start the vehicle on these occasions. It almost appears as if the system is updating.

I am very frustrated as this is a brand new truck. Never had this issue with my Silverado!!!!

Updating? Do you think the radio uses the bluetooth connection to the phone to get internet to update the software? I have the base model XL with no Navigation Just sync and the small screen. I would assume mine would not need updates, however sometimes firmware updates can fix issues. So this is why I am thinking that it could be using the connection to update.

One of the reps at the dealership mentioned that it could be a battery issue where the battery is low. He said if the screen has a line that says low battery the radio goes in to a "sleep" mode to save power? I doubt that because I only purchased my truck 6 months ago.
