2015 F150 Lariat 5.0L
Hello! First time poster here but wanted to get some opinions on my first F-150. I went to go look at this aforementioned truck and wanted to get a couple thoughts on it first.
Im not familiar with these motors as I come from an FBO WRX. However, it just didn’t sound “healthy” to me, I guess. Should I fear it? It has 130k on it. I love these trucks. The interiors, everything about them. We just bought our first house and I need a truck. Already sold my car so I’m just looking for the perfect truck. It’ll be a daily driver and occasionally haul some stuff but not anything insane. I drove it and everything felt fine as well.
Thank you all in advance. Have a great day!
Well,
the video won’t upload and I get it to for the life of me.
Would a kind soul inbox me for my email so I could send it to them? I think it may already be available. I just need help lol

IMO if you don’t know what you’re doing get a mechanic who does and have them inspect it. No internet guessing will help you here.

For that year model and mileage and interested, it would be worth $100 for a professional inspection. A couple of things to focus on:
(1) Tire wear pattern and tread depth. Tires at or below 6/32nds will be another $1200 expenditure in the near future.
(2) CV axles and boots
(3) Check IWE operation if a 4WD
(4) Have spark plugs been replaced?
(5) Has the coolant been replaced? If it is yellow YES, if is is orange NO. Do the heat and AC work properly?
(6) Has the differential fluid been replaced?
(7) Any abnormal shifting in the transmission in normal and sport mode? Harsh 5-3 downshift? Has the fluid been replaced and condition? If not, $400-500 immediate for the work since the maximum distance is 150K.
(8) Signs of coolant leaks around Y pipe and water pump (front center of engine)
(9) Brake pad thickness and condition of rotors. 6 mm of greater pad thickness (>= 50% remains) or over a $1000 for a shop to do the work in the near future. Also, check the parking brake and determine if the shoes have been replaced.
(10) Check the oil & air filter - The condition of the air filter will most likely tell you if it was replaced recently or possibly indicate that the owner does not perform routine maintenance including oil changes regularly.
(10) If 4WD, does 4A, 4H, and 4L work engage and disengage?
(11) Shop should scan and report any codes

I agree with the post above. A good inspection would be worth the money.
The 15 - 20 5.0L engines do make some noises that can scare you. One is a sewing machine tick noise that is the high pressure fuel pump.
I studied the engine options available for my 2020 and settled on the 5.0 L (3rd one) before sending in my build sheet.
People with problems tend to post them on forums (including myself), so understand for every complaint there are hundreds of others who have great success with the 5.0 L.
Enjoy
