2014 fx4 - is this rust normal
Ford brotheren
I just picked up this 2014 fx4 from the auction a few days ago. It was a Canadian truck so it probably has seen a couple bad winters.
I am no expert and this is the first f150 that I own. I have driven them plenty through the company I work for but now decided to join the owner group.
I found rust under the dash inside the vehicle kinda near the pedals
Also in the engine compartment , see pictures, is that normal ? Do I need to be worried?
my plan is to get a wire brush and some rust-oleum and go to town.
Is there something else I need to do to get that fixed ? I am some what worried by that, is this out of normality
Appreciate all the help

Most metal bracketry used within the vehicle dashboard is untreated "satin coat" steel and over time will accumulate surface rust from humidity and other airborne moisture. Completely normal and nothing to worry about.
I also have a 2014 that was originally a Canadian truck. It was delivered new to the first owner in Canada in February 2015 and I purchased it in Ohio in March 2016, so it only saw one Canadian winter.. I was especially surprised at the surface rust photos in your post. Afterwards I went out and found that there was no such rust starting on mine at all. Yours looks like I might expect after 15 years of use. It makes me wonder how yours was exposed to so much moisture. It won't affect the utility of the truck, however.

The interior rust would be normal if the owner drove with snow on his shoes/boots and didn't have a liner like Weathertech for the floor. The carpet will absorb all that moisture and cause the steel in the seats and dash to rust that way. The exterior rust can be quite normal if driven on salted roads and never washed during the winter. Amazing how quickly salt can rust bare metal. My front hubs were pristine steel when I put the winter wheels on, and by the end of the first month they were rusting.
Thanks guys
I am getting over the rust, it really annoyed me at the beginning but realizing now it's a very normal thing
Gregsf150- I did and I hate the way it looks and was thinking about painting I with POR15 but getting mixed advice from people so right now still looking ugly
