Default 2013 F150 Complete Brake failure

just FYI... had the Master cylinder go out in my 2013 F150, with 18k miles, pedal went to the floor. Truck is bone stock with no modifications, haven't even rotated the tires yet. They have to change the booster as well since It was contaminated with fluid from the MC.

Well that's the problem, you went past the computer calibrated rotation monitor, it assumes the job of making sure you won't drive any further due to possible tire failure because of neglect. Better known as the (FFM)"Firestone Failure Monitor"

.

Any news from your dealership yet, fl610? I'll be happy to get this into the hands of your regional customer service manager; just PM me your full name, best daytime phone number, VIN, mileage, and servicing dealership. I'll do the rest.

Rare failure....as all systems now have dual chamber reservoirs so even with a say rear brake system failure you still have front brakes to some extent. I have to say this is a first with what we see. The master cylinder has redundancy built in just for these events to still allow braking, but reduced.

Yes, rare indeed. Normally you will loose vacuum and it feels like no brakes and you have to stand on the pedal, but a total failure is virtually unheard of in a new vehicle.

One of those heart stopping moments. Glad nothing serious happened to you or the truck.

Heheheeee, you might just be right! I ain't NEVER heard of that kind of brake failure, even way back when I was driving '50s era trucks. I did drive a '47 International though that you had to about use both feet hard to stop it. Hard to do with a stick shift.

We had a 1989 Beretta and my mom experienced total brake failure coming onto an interstate offramp. It was due to a bad master cylinder. It can happen.
