Default 2012 Radio Swap

Hi everyone, I'm new here so forgive any mistakes. I did a search but didn't see any hits. I have a 2012 King Ranch F150, and I really want the apple carplay that is available in the 2017+ models, is it possible to just swap out the components? I know I could buy an aftermarket radio and accomplish the same thing, and it might even be cheaper, but I would really like to keep the factory look. I was hoping to find a wrecked 2017 or 2018 and just buy the radio out of it and replace mine with it. I was hoping the cables were the same and it would be a simple plug and play deal. Do any of you know if this is possible?

Go to the 09-14 forum. There is a very long and detailed thread on switching to sync 3. All of your questions will be answered in that thread already. And if you have one that is not answered, just post it. Lost of very experienced people in there that can help.
