Default 2011 f150

Hi all !!! Great site you have here. I just went from a Cabellas F250 to a 2010 Badlander(tuskany) F150. It has the 5.4 in it. I also pull a 31' bumper pull travel trailer.I could not resist the F150.
Question #1 / Have I made a mistake as far as pulling?
Question #2 / I have the 7 pin hook up, but do not see a braking meter or box inside the truck.
Question #3 / What is the best solution to my problem if I have a problem?

Thanks....

1: If I read right, you are pulling a 31 foot trailer with a bumper hitch, and not a hitch receiver? Doublecheck that the bumper can handle the trailer's weight and the toungue weight.

2: You likely need a TBC. I'd buy the Ford trailer brake controller from a local dealership, and have them install and activate it. The Ford TBC is excellent.

3: The 5.4 should pull the 31' trailer adequately. However, please make sure the vehicle's tow rating (GVWR, GAWRs) is up to snuff, for basic safety's sake. I know people say that a vehicle can pull a bigger trailer "good enough", but there is a reason for weight ratings, and in case of a wreck, if the opposing attorney finds you are towing a pound over the rated limit, the judge will find against you, and maybe even slap you with triple punitive damages for gross negligence.

I guess my post is misleading....The truck has a towing package, just not the trailer brake controller is not installed. Campers are either 5th wheel or bumper pull, meaning a reciever hitch.

Im sure someone on this site is pulling a 31 camper or similiar with a 5.4 screw. I was just wondering how it was doing, mileage, etc.

The brake cotroller will be installed next week...

Thanks !!!

By a Prodigy brake controller and install it yourself. The plug for a brake controller that you need to splice and then plug into the truck should be in your glove box.

The nice thing about the Prodigy is it's "plug and play". Meaning, you do not need to adjust it before towing down the road. It is an inertia controller.
It does have settings you can set if you dont like how the trailer is braking and it also has the "oh ****" lever that will lock up the trailer in an emergency.
