Default 2004 F150 short bed cap fit a 1998 short bed?

I can't seem to find any info on this. I have a 1998 3 door XLT and there's a 2004 6.5' cap available in my area although it's a bit of a ride. Thanks in advance for any assistance you can offer.

Peace,
Ed

I thought a shortbed is 5.5 and standard is 6.5?

LOL. 8’ beds haven’t died off yet. 😅

OP, that bed cap may fit if desperate, but the fenders are taller on the ‘04 new body trucks, so it may not look all that smooth.

The '98 10th Gen F150 may be a different bed style. Ford offered the Flareside and Styleside bed for the 10th Gen, so that's something to consider. The '04 11th Gen did have a redesign, and a Flareside bed cover would definitely not fit a Styleside bed. Other than that, I also couldn't find much else on the topic of the bed betwixt the two trucks.

That may be but I was under the impression a short bed was 6.5' and long bed was 8'. Always something new to learn.

Thank you. That's about all the information I could find as well. I think I found one off the same year and body style as my truck.

I still haven't found a cap to fit. I'm in the Easton, PA area and at this point I will travel a couple hours to find the correct cap. I would appreciate hearing of any you may know of. 1998 F150 styleside 3 door 6.5' bed. Thank you
