Default 2003 Ford F-150 Issues

Dear Users,

I recently purchased a salvaged Ford F-150 Supercrew. It's a beautiful truck inside and out. However, as soon as I start the vehicle the doors lock. I ended up locking myself out of the truck this morning. Then, if I remember correctly the meters pegged all the way over when I started it as well.

My main concern is the doors locking as soon as the vehicle is started. Can anyone help me with this? Is this an easy fix, or has my dream truck already turned into a nightmare?...

Your problems are most likely related to low battery voltage when cranking. The instrument cluster is performing a "sweep test " due to loss of memory from low voltage. The door locks are also related to a voltage concern. Check battery CCA's, alternator and terminals.

Thank You! I am new to Ford. I have an '08 Dodge Caliber so this is new to me. Would my best bet be to take it to AutoZone and have the battery tested?

Wouldn't hurt...they can load test the battery and check the alternator also. It should have at least a 650 CCA battery in it.

I had the battery tested yesterday afternoon at AutoZone. The battery was bad. So I had it replaced, and as of this morning everything has appeared to have been fixed. The meters no longer peg at startup, and the doors no longer lock at startup. They lock when the vehicle is shifted into gear and goes above 5MPH.

Thanks you your help!

I do have another question...

Last night I noticed that neither of the back license plate lights are working. Seeing as how they're both out I question if it's the lights. Could it be the fuse? Is this something AutoZone could check out for me?

Thanks Again!
