Default 1997 F150 bottom rust.

I have an F150 I bought new in 1996, has 80,000 miles always kept in the shed. Everything on the bottom of the truck is VERY rusted. Is this typical for that year or what?

I'm not sure what your shed is like, but being covered, may keep the rain off. but you can still get condensation on the underside depending on the size and construction of the shed.

That's 19 years old. I had the 96 model year Lariat when it first came out. The 4.6 lasted forever. Had the truck for 9 years here in the northeast and no visible rust anywhere. Except under the truck. Spray the rust with fluid film using the rattle can 2 times a year or have it applied professioally ( thicker like jelly) on the rust. It will seal rust and prevent further rust to occur .

My friend at work had a F350 around that year and his cab mounts where super rusted. From what he said it is a common problem?
