Arrow 18" Wheels VS. 20" Wheels

What are better?
What are the benefits or disadvantages?

I currently have 18" but really would love to put 20's on my F150 so it looks like the newer 2007+ KR models.

Please flood me with you knowledge. Thanks

20's cost more. 18's probably give a better ride. Other then that it probably just comes down to looks. I like 18's.

I've heard people say the 18's ride better. I just don't understand why? And is it that big of a difference?

My 20's with 295/50's don't ride too bad...

I've driven both 18's and 20's on different FX4's and can say there is a slight increase in harshness in the 20's, probably due to the shorter sidewalls.

One of the Fx4s that I drove had been sitting for a few months and the tires has flat spotted. The dealer, who was trying very hard to sell me a truck on the lot with 18's, told me that's a common issue with the 20's but I haven't experienced it with mine yet. I will re post when it gets colder because cold apparently exacerbates the condition.

The biggest thing I noticed was the price difference when buying new tires.

18s definitely ride better as the pp said because of the larger sidewall. Also there are more aftermarket tire choices for 18s than 20s right now (that will probably change as 20s get more popular.)

Looks' wise I personally went with 20s because I preferred the wheel choices vs the 18s. Also after searching on tirereack I realized the cost of 20s is very close to 18s. Seems 17" tires is the last reasonable cost tire made - after that they all cost a lot.

Okay. 20's DO ride rougher than 18's. 18's allow the sidewall to flex more. Especially while turning. And you can go a lower tire pressure off road with 18's and not worry about breaking a bead. And yes, 20" tires cost a considerable amount more.
I personally like an 18" wheel, unless youre going to put 40" tires on, then you can go 20's and not look goofy.

I went with 18's also for the same reasons--I like the looks (and ride) of more sidewall on a lifted truck. As usual, it boils down to personal preference. I found the best price/service at Discount Tire Direct. Good luck!

I have 18's and think the 20's look better but personally would not get them due to the previously mentioned costs associated
