2003 was by far the worst year for the 6.0L. Again I would not purchase a '03 6.0 @ any price. It does say it has the ARP stud kit and possible EGR as says "cooler" those two items make a difference but its still a crappy year for those trucks and the price is WAY steep. why take a chance? You pay way more than its worth and a single large breakdown will put you in the poor house. Simple question: Can you afford to have a 16k truck sitting in the driveway that has an expense you also cannot afford? A biggie would be if you have to get a loan. If loan DON'T if cash then its a chance. It does not sound like the heads were replaced just cut down. How much was taken off? again S T E E R C L E A R of this one. This will be one of those I told ya so's. The reason people sell these trucks is they are fed up with the $ in keeping them running.

I have done the EGR delete's and ARP studs on these trucks and not fun, nor is anything else like the electrical gremlins that are in them. SOOOO expensive to repair if you are unable to do the work yourself.

Let me guess this truck had leaky head gaskets?

How many other passenger cars or trucks can you think of that a head gasket job costs 6k?

Why not something like this instead? Hard to tell by the poor pic but looks like a nice truck. This will hold its value also if you take care of it. Since a 460 is pretty much a bolt in it would be a nice addition and the cost to repair is a fraction of the 6.0l junk.

Alright guys, I think I've made the decision to not get it and rather spend the money in my truck, at least what I have saved. I wouldve had to get a loan and of course that wouldve made it a little more difficult to save for any necessary repairs should they come up. Thank you for all your opinions they really helped me make my choice!!

Do you have a need for a super duty? If not then you're better off with the one fiddy.

That was another reason I decided against it, no need for it.

Just a thought....

If you are still thinking about it...take the truck over to Different Strokes of Alaska in Anchorage. They are a shop that specializes in all different models of the Power Stroke motor and can check it out to see how it looks.

smart move i would not touch an '03 6.0 powerstoke if someone paid me, the only one i might consider is the '07, besides do you realize the maintenance that come with a diesel 16 quarts of oil (diesel) 6 quarts (gas) 3 filters (diesel) 1 filter (gas) and like the rest of the guys said the repair cost alone will break you and if you make a loan you may not have the money to fix it and it could be sitting in your drive

Not only do the engines suck but elrctronicly they are rat nests! Nothing but problem lights work but dash doesn't ignition will randomly stop working. Garbage. I got my 2001 f350 with a 7.3 for 17000 with an aliarc and brand new tires only has 190000 kilometers on it and I've had it for a year no problems at all
