Shifting from P to D while on grade

Shifting from P to D while on grade
I recently bought a 2016 F250 SCrew 6.2. It has 400 miles so far.
If the vehicle is in Park and I shift into Drive while on a grade/slope (and, yes, the brakes are depressed), the vehicle takes a few moments to recognize it, and then once I depress the gas pedal it makes a brief grinding noise, then proceeds.
This does not happen when the roadway is flat. Only when starting uphill.
Any ideas on what this could be?
Thank you!

When parking, do you engage the parking brake before taking your foot off the brake? May or may not have anything to do with your issue; just thinking out loud.

Yes, I do. My current theory is that the hill climb assist is engaging. Next time I drive it I will turn it off and see if that changes anything.

This is normal, it is working correctly.
On a grade in Park and then you shift to drive or reverse the brakes are applied to keep the SD from rolling when you take your foot off of the brake pedal, then after a few seconds or so the brakes release, mine as well makes the grinding sound.
