Love hearing what Ford had to say. Like Ford set out to design the optimal engine from the ground up for the application
I believe all the GMs V8s have it.Pretty much standard now.

Been so long since Ford went back to pushrod.

Zero chance this becomes a Raptor or Mustang. Could see the rumored "Highboy" F250 with it though.

I am slightly disappointed to see that it is not PFDI but as long as it delievers on power then it doesn't really matter.

I guess this is most analogous to the 6.4 Hemi at this point. Pushrod, 2V Port fuel injected. If we scale up the hemi's current power numbers by the displacement then I wouldn't expect anything less than 465hp/490tq. If it is less than that I would be a bit disappointed.

GM's 6.6L gas motor was also announced today as well but a little weak on the HP side.

I am glad to see the OEM's are actually taking the gas engines in the HD's somewhat seriously now. They have neglected them for far to long while taking the diesels to the extreme. 99% of people do not need a 935ft-lb diesel. It makes the jump to an HD from a 1/2 ton significantly less painful.

doesn't need it. gm and fca don't use that stuff on their hd truck gas motors either.

I believe this gas engine will also be offered in F450, 550, 650, 750??

So many medium duty truck operators have been badly burned by the EPAed diesel engines. As in five figure engine repairs!

Ford will sell a lot to municipalities that want to avoid diesels unless they absolutely have to have one..

Hoping Raptor gets this option. Even if the power is similar . The sound would be 10 times better then the Tacoma sounding raptor. Yeah I said. Raptor sounds like a Tacoma with exhaust ☺️

Since it is SuperDuty only, they only need to meet basic minimum EPA requirements, and not fuel efficiency, which is is another reason it won't be used in anything but SD trucks. There are no fuel economy ratings for the medium duty trucks, so Ford had free reign to get the most power out of a simple engine without all those fancy gadgets needed to gain fuel efficiency too.

Probably another reason for the addition to the SD lineup.

In addition to the current 6.2, the 7.3 is offered as well as an updated Powerstroke which more than likely will top out the class once again. The 10 speed trans has a PTO on it as well.
Isn't the PTO on the transfer case?
