Default Zf questions

Will a zf5 speed bolt to my 85 300 i6. What years will bolt to it and what do I need to put one in if it will work. And isn't it just like a granny low 4 speed with just one more gear?

The ZF is a granny low with overdrive. And as long as it comes off a SBF it will bolt up. You'll need the proper clutch disk/plate and maybe a master cylinder to work with that slave, but not sure on that.

Does the older ones use an external slave cylinder? Or are they all internal? The junk yard next to my house has one out of a 90s 250 and it has an internal slave cylinder that looked like it was on the throw out bearing. Any knowledge on that?

So there's a light and heavy duty trans? How do you tell the difference?

Would a zf from an 89 f250 bolt to my 85 np208f transfer case. I know to the motor is good but I'm not sure on the transfer case.

With the right transfer case adapter, yes. I don't know how different the factory adapters are, but if the one it has doesn't work you'll just need to find the right one.
