Wrong heads or what?
Jeff, its normal to see coolant and oil, when removing heads, residual stuff will collect on top of pistons upon disassembly. Didn't believe cover was wrong for crankcase, hoping a gasket was miss aligned. Now that t-cover is off, remove pump and check again the back part of the pump cavity for pin holes. Also check the two passages from pump cavity to where it matches to block. We need to eliminate this area as the source of oil contamination. Again, it doesn't make any sense to me about the different heads as being the problem. So what they changed to a different plug, who cares, was the block redesinged also? Something went wrong on assembly. We need to find it.
Timing cover gaskets are the same. Remember you must use the accessory belts from the engine the water pump came from. Some water pumps spin forward and require v-belts while some spin in reverse and require a serpentine belt.
Hello everyone, Well the shop said the heads was not damaged in any way. Also told them what happened and they was at a lose. Went to pick the heads up, they do not think the heads were torqued down tight enough. They are saying this because the head gaskets were not compressed enough for a good seal. Also found out were the oil went,, was in the bucket with the antifreeze. Went back to finish cleaning up my mess and the oil and antifreeze had seperated. Told to put the motor back together and ajust the carb, to lean, and start it up. Keep my fingers crossed. Let you know how it goes. Thanks again. Jeff
Hello everyone, I would like to thank everyone for there help. I do have the answer to the mistery. The mechine shop said that the heads were not torqued down properly and the fluid and oil mixed. Also the new Holley carb wasnt set up properly from the factory and caused gas to enter the headers causeing them to turn red. So it help save the engine because I turned it off. But everthing was checked and reassembled and it runs great. Thank goodness. Thanks again for your help.
