If the engine started with a little gas down its throat, then it seems your feeling of no gas is correct. Disconnect the fuel line at the carb and crank the engine with the starter and look for gas flowing out. No gas, then go backwards towards the tank. Am concerned with the pressence of fuel smell but no run. Thinking pump is leaking pressure all over itself instead of filling carb.

Don't forget to check the oil for gas. The fuel pump sometimes leaks gas into the engine when it goes bad.

so i got a chance to look at the truck last night, i poured alot of gas into the carb. it started for much longer and then holding the gas down it stayed running. when you let it drop bak down to idle it cuts off. my pops noticed the fuel filter was leaking so i tighted it down a lil more and i saw a crack in the filter when the crack was not facing down it leaked less and was able to hold an idle so i guess its the filter. picked up a new 1 last night hopefully ill have 10 mins to go change it. thanks every1
