Exclamation UV joint noise

I had my 78 f150 lifted 4" with a suspension kit by a pro lift shop, then I had the front uv joint replaced by my personal mechanic, it had one ear almost gone. Before the new UV joint went in my truck would lunge at start and stops. That has been corrected but now since everything is all back together tight and correct the knuckle makes a loud knocking noise when torque is applied. At 55mph or coasting the truck rides smooth as silk. What gives?

Are you using a CV joint or just standard joint and yoke??

Default Joint and Yoke

Standard joint and yoke was what was replaced. Everything else is oem as far as the driveline. Weird thing is this noise was not present with the bad joint and jolk, only after the new one was installed.
Thanks for responding.

Well I think the wrong joint is installed. You need a CV joint for the proper articulation on any 4x4 front and rear shafts both should have them.

you only need the cv joints for high angle drive lines. The older fords front drive line is longer than most other vehicles, if he has a divorced transfer case and standard cab with a long bed the front drive line is actually longer than the rear. The popping noise could be coming from the front axles and or the rear drive line. Another common problem on these is that the slip yolk wears out allowing for the drive line to spin inside the slip yolk.

Default UV joint

I have not done any modifications to the chassis, cab, or bed so it should all be original stock and from the look of the truck is think it is. The odd thing about this is before with the wore out joint and yolk there was no knocking noise, after the new joint and yolk the noise started and it only happens after torque is applied but is quiet above speeds of 55 and coasting. I am doing a break line replacement this weekend and will be under the truck. I can take some pics and upload them to see if anything looks out of the ordinary. I appreciate all of the input because this has me stumped.
