Default Transmission/Gearbox problems

My '85 F150 has been having problems shifting. It has the t170ft 4spd manual transmission in it and it has been shifting hard, and when the flywheel starts spinning it won't shift into reverse unless you turn the truck off and shift it. I can't find anything about it online no matter where i look. Any ideas on what i could do? I'm no expert (far from one) but i'm willing to learn as much as i can and am open to new ideas. Thanks in advance.

Good chance its time to change the clutch . Might be a problem in the clutch hydraulic system but i doubt it.

Yeah. I knew it was about time for the clutch to be replaced but i had never thought about it causing the hard shifting. How much do you think that would cost?

I had this problem with my 2000 with a manual tranny. It cost me 1400 to get the slave cylinder, master cylinder, and clutch plate and a few other things replaced.

Depends on what quality you put in. Look at your flywheel. It may need resurfaced. here is what you need at autozone if you have one nearby

This is why i love my old stuff. A bit over $100 and i get everything for the clutch. The hydraulic system can be done for about the same price.

Yeah sounds like the throwout bearing indeed. Same thing happened on my wife's 08 Imprezza. Luckily it died on way to dealer... Thing was shredded!!!
