what would i have to do to swap my 4 speed with a 3 speed automatic
both trucks are a 1986 ford f150 Xl with 302 engines the only diffrence is that mine is a 4wheel drive and the other is only 2 wheel drive. does anyone know how i could go about doing this?

Have to be sure the transfer case will bolt up to the tranny - not sure if a different tail section was used. Also, driveshaft lengths would have to be checked.

Will have to add a transmission cooler, preferably one that is integral to the radiator, or an auxiliary unit that has a temperature control feature.

it won't work unless you go with a divorced transfer case. 4x4 trannies and 2wd trannies are different. Same internals, different rear ends.
