steering play

Default steering play

My truck has some bad play in the wheel what can I do to fix it I thought I could tighten my tie rods up before I replaced them it had 6 inches of play now it has like 3 in of.play

Well what happens is that under the hood the steering column will turn but the wheels won't

Inspect the rag joint connecting the steering column and the gear box. Go to the library and check out a ford manual, follow their diognostic flow chart, read up on adjusting the gear box.
