Question Which power steering fluid?

I have a leak in the pitman arm seal, at least that's where I think it is, I can't find any leaks on the pump or anywhere else on the steering gear. I say leak but it's pretty steady. Apparently, my 81 F-150's steering doesn't like ATF type F, which I had always been told to use in older Fords for power steering fluid. I'm going to replace the seal, any suggestions as to which power steering fluid to use? I was thinking Royal Purple, but is regular power steering fluid ok to use in an 81 Ford's power steering pump?

Just to make sure, we are talking about using Dex 3 in the power steering pump right?
