worst case, eliminate the electric choke and spend $10 on a manual conversion kit from Advance or where ever you shop. 20 minutes later tops, DONE.

Default Carb choke relay

I have an 86 F150 with the same relay. Mine has only 4 wires. I have recently inquired about the relay because I put a one wire 3G alternator on my truck and the electric choke stopped working. I went to Ford dealership today and they did verify that it was acarburetor choke relay. They didnt know anything about it other than it was not offered by Ford any more. I traced the wires. The yellow wire comes directly from the starter selenoid and is always hot. The black wire is grounded to body. The brown wire went to the old alternator on the stator terminal. The grey wire went to the electric choke. The voltage going to the choke should be 7 volts which id delived fron the stator terminal of alternator. I have no idea why Ford sent a separate wire from the choke to the relay and a wire from the alternator to the relay in order to get 7 volts at the choke. Why can't you run a wire from choke to stator wire on alternator? Perhaps the reason Ford does not offer this part any more, is that it was a bad design to begin with. Please add any comments. I am just learning.
