Default neeed help wont start

i replaced the tranny in my 86 f150 and now the truck wont start unless its jumped,
so i checked the battery with a volt tester and it was getting 13.5 volts and then i checked the + goin to the sylinoid and it was gettin 13.5 volts. so i had my wife try to start the truck and i checked the volt from the sylinoid to the starter and it was only getting 2 volts. i replaced the sylinoid and tried againd and still only gets 5 volts to the starter, its weird when i try to start it the sylinoid makes a funny almost clicking noise please help

Still a bad solenoid on the fender wall. The battery goes directly to the solenoid. The solenoid to the starter. If it is getting 13.5 volts in and only 5 volts out the solenoid is bad. I don't care if it is a new one it is bad. Happens that way sometimes in mass production.

Thats what i was thinking.. Even if it is new u will get a bad new out of the box everytime. Take it off and take it back to get another one.. If u have to jump it to make it start then that is what it is. Just get u another one and try it.. It should fix the problem..

Do you have anyway of load testing your battery? If not turn your headlamps on while engine shut off and test voltage at battery. If voltage drops below 9 or 10 volts you may have a defective battery showing you only a surface charge of 13.5 volts.

Sounds like a bad battery to me.. If it will start when you try to jump with it jumper cables off another vehical.... Best way to check that theory is to put a battery off another vehical that you know is good and try to start it... If it starts you know the battery is bad... You could also try to put your battery on another vehical and try to start that vehical

That's the exact same thing that happened to my truck and it turned out to the voltage regulator. I would try changing that first. It's cheaper than an alternator

"the truck use to needed to needed jumped everytime that i shut it off", was the truck like this before the tranny was replaced or only after?

Check your cables and clamps, sounds like you may have a corrosion spot. When you test cables they can show good voltage but once you put a direct load on it then the cable can be faulty.
