ive got an 85 all stock 351 4bbl and i need some help with the Idle
when she starts up she runs great....in park but as soon as i take it out of park the idle just goes lower and lower so far my temp fix is every time i stop i put it in neutral but i cant keep doing this i was gonna adjust the carb But i thought well if i adjust it to run higher in gear it would run alot higher in park so if anyone has any ideas it would be very helpful thanks

 

Is it loading up when ur at a stop light do u c any black smoke ?

 

I am curious as to what your idle rpm's are when your truck is at normal operating temperature in park?

Check your idle RPM's off the emissions sticker and match that to what you read off your tach. I set mine to 900rpms in idle 700 in drive.

 

the rpms dont go up when im at a light unless i have it in neutral revin it and i cant check the numbers on my tach cuz my truck doesnt have one....yet

 

I'd check your idle speed. It needs to be set while the truck is in drive, so more or less when it is 'under load'. I've got an '81 w/ the 302 and mine is supposed to be set at 800 rpm. It should be the same or at least close.
