Default Help!!!!!

i have a 79 f150 xlt lariat with a 302. i am having some trouble and cant figure it out. when i start the engine it runs nice and smooth but when i give it some gas it shutters and jumps and wont acclerate. it has new plugs,carb,wires,rotor,cap,points,fuel pump. if anyone could help it would be appreciated. thanks

Sounds more like a carb issue, did you check the fuel filter 2 of them?

the carb is a rebuilt one from guarentee carbs. i changed the one inline filter to the carb. that is the only one i can find.

What points? Check your fireing order. I think the 302 used the 1-5-4-2-6-3-7-8.

It runs nice and smooth until you give it gas... There is also a on the carb filter I think right where the line coneects to the carb, trying to remember....

i tryed another filter but still the some problem. i checked the firing order and that is okay. i put the timing light on it and it is right on the money. im baffled

Had the exact same thing happen to me today... Idles good, sounds good revving it up in neutral Runs like crap going through the gears. I need to clutch and rev it up to keep speed. I found one plug that looks suspect, dark in color, oily gassy look to it. I suspect bad wire, am changing out wires and plugs in the morning. Probably do cap and rotor while I'm there. I hope that works. I did check my fuel pump, I once had a loose bolts that made it run bad, just a quick tighten and worked. I have also had vapor lock problems on hot days.
