engine dies

Default engine dies

ok so my truck has a couple problems it doesnt start with ignition anymore gotta jump the solenoid it runs until you turn the headlights on (not marker lights) and then it just dies. doesnt sputter out or choke out it just dies. dont know if its the ignition, solenoid, or headlight switch.

Sounds like you might have a couple things going on. replace solenoid first. Then check voltage from alternator.
You may have both solenoid and alternator bad.

solenoid i figured. and alternator is pushin between 3-9 pretty sure they are supposed to be pushin 12 to 14?

You should have at least 13.5 volts with the truck running.

Indeed...the solenoid is quick and easy at least. The alternator will be easy too, just not as cheap. All yor cables are in good shape right?

there's your problem the alternator is failing. Replace the solenoid and alternator and your problem will be solved.
