Default coil issues

I have a 1983 F150 pickup 4x4 with a 302 engine. When engine is cold it will start and run. When you turn it off and try to start it again (15 mins. later) it will not start. I put a new coil in and cleaned all wire connections. When it is cold there is 12 volts at the coil. When it is warm it goes down to 6.6 volts. I have 12 volts at the electronic ignition box. I believe this is the heart of my problem. Why am I losing 6 volt at the coil? Don't know what to do next. I have new plug wires, plugs, distributor cap, fuel filter, and air filter.

Probably a bad ballast resistor or pick up coil in the dostributor.

Default On my '84 - it is this module

Usually get a couple of warning stops - they it will not run again until easily
replaced. Last time it died at the end of my street.

I would carry a tested replacement if taking a long trip away from auto
parts stores...

If not a back pick up. Id start checking ground connections. And make sure and make sure you dont have wire shorting out. Alot of time when that ignition control module its run or dead. Sometimes you can hit them with a wrench and they'll Strighten up or just get another

Default coil

Replaced ignition coil module. It's still doiing the same thing. Only 7 volts at coil after it is warmed up. I replaced the coil again too. I'm not sure what a ballast resister or pick up coil in the distributor is. Is that easy to replace?

No not really. You have to take it out, drive out a drift pin , pretty much take it all apart. Then put it all back together with correct tollerances.

Easier to get a new distributor . About $80.
