carb help HIGH IMPORTANCE
ok folks I've got 85 351 4 Bbl i pulled the carb rebuilt it put it back in and it is spewing gas from under it from the gasket maybe I put it on backwards idk the mounting nuts are tight as all H-ll and its just spewing fuel any tips for what I can do
In what order does the carb mount like base gasket base plate then carb
And which way does the base plate face up I can't figure this out and I'm very angry

Yeah, I know how it feels. You do your best and it goes to H-ll in a hand basket. But you just gotta walk away sometimes cuz getting angry never helps nothing. That's life, sh-t happens. Anyhoo, I don't know which carb you've got off hand but how it bolts on to the intake manifold has nothing to do with it leaking gas out. Sounds like maybe you have a problem with the float height? This could make the gas overflow from the bowl of the carb. Or perhaps somethings not quite right inside. Hard to say without looking so I think you need to pull the carb back off and re-check it.

Been a long time since I rebuilt a 'cage' carb. Have to mess with my motorcycle carb a couple of times a year.
When gas spews out or carb does not function correctly after rebuild, it is normally because something is missing or not put together correctly. Float on upside down something dumb like that. Also some rebuild kits have parts for several models included so you must be sure to use the correct parts.
To test the float operation what I do is attach a piece of hose to the gas line nipple and blow air through. Move the float up and down to see if the float valve is operating correctly. Then adjust the float height if needed.
Well I pulled it again and there wee some loose screws I tightened then the floats were fine I put it back in and reconnected everything my battery died so I'm charging it and hopefully this time I won't have any leaks
Ok fixed all the leaks she fired right up and unless she was fed shed die and once she started dieing my buddy said fuel shot out of the carb on the front 2 barrels where the cover is
Update she's not even trying to start she's turning over and I'm not having any leaks except where fuel is shooting out if the top 2 pipes/ lines what ever you want to call it
I apologize for all the questions I'm new to truck carbs
And I honestly probably have some vacuum lines mixed up
