Default Carb adjustment...

Need a little help here. I have a tach and dwell but no clue where to connect it. 2 leads on it old school type. And what rpm is it meant to idle at?

85 F-150 with the 300 4wd 4spd. CARB is not original. Sticker under the hood says you can't adjust it but you can so I don't think it's original.

There should be 3 leads two with alligator style clips (one red and one black booted) the third wire should connect around the number 1 plug wire. Your RPM information (what RPM curbside [neutral with parking break set or wheels chocked with manual, or in park for automatic, transmission] example: 800RPM with vacuum disconnect from the distributor and hose plugged) should be on your emissions sticker near the radiator

I do not think that one will work with your truck unless you have changed it back to a points system. That one connects to the +(red) and -(black) sides of the coil.

Dwell is points - a dwell meter is useless to you. for the tach - no instructions ? One side will go to the coil - are you just using it to set your idle speed ? Just set it to the lowest idle it will stay running well at.
That's all I'd do anyway.

This dwell/tach Connects on the + and - connections on the coil to get power and give readings. It detect the break of the points opening and closing

I know I can't use the dwell function just the tach function. What coil? Also the choke won't set half the time? Any ideas on that?
