Default 86 ignition lock

Is it possible to remove the push button that lets the you remove the ignition key? I would like to just be able to turn the truck off and remove the key with one hand.

Wow, forgot those even existed. Bad memories of my key getting stuck in my blazer. I had this smooth middle finger pressing while I turned the key back. Like a zippo trick. I don't have that on my 86 so I'm not sure... Just wanted to share.

i dont know that you would want to, it's tied into the system that locks the steering wheel in position when the key is out. if you really must do it, it might be simpler to get a different steering column, for safety reasons anyways

It's really designed so that the key can't be accidentally shut off. Imagine suddenly finding the steering locked and the motor shut off while cruising along at speed. And your key came out and fell on the floor somewhere. It may be a nuisance, but it's actually a really good idea to have it.
