Default 85 F150 Dead!

It's been running rough the last few days.and for a while every so often when the engine has been hot and I turn it off it would kick back up and then shut off. Would smell fuel.

Last night it ran like complete ****. Had to really rev it up when i gave it gas just to avoid stall. I made it home and packed it in for the night. This morning it wouldnt start period. Turns over fine but nothing. Not even a teaser.

I replaced the fuel pump. Nothing. So I'm guessing it could be a carb issue or perhaps electrical.. Coil, Distributor? Any quick inexpensive suggestions before I get to replacing bits and pieces?

Ok here's the skinny. It started today when I got home. For no reason at all. It drives much better BUT... When i go from idle and give it anywhere from half gas to flooring it the engine chokes out for a second then catches and is fine. Only from idle though. When i"m driving and do it then it doesn't happen.

I've changed: Fuel pump, Fuel Filter, Ignition coil, Distributor cap, Rotor.

Any ideas?

would a pickup made in 1985 have an idle air sensor? sounds like carb problems. but it could be worse...my friends jeep has similar problems, it idles fine but when you give it gas it backfires and almost dies. weve replaced everything on it. the only thing we havent replaced is the camshaft and we think thats the problem

Forgot about the carb

I don't know much about the carb end, but what about changing the fuel filter?

Seems to be a carb issue. A choke issue to be more precise. It started when I manually set the choke. Can I replace just the choke on the carb?
