Default 85 f150

So I have an 85 f150 4x4 backed with a 300 and 3 speed with o/d. The guy I bought it from told me a fish story and said it had all kinds of stuff and the only thing I see he has put in there is a mid range cam. I put 4.10s in and I seen a zf 5 speed will be good under it. What's some more good engine mods to get it up on the power ladder? I'd appreciate the help folks.

Check out Clifford Performance.com, they make aftermarket parts for straight sixes.

You can pick up a total rebuild kit for about $350, if you can do all the work yourself. This might not get you as much power as you're looking for, but it would be like having a new engine. It's a lot cheaper than Clifford's "combination".

I may be mistaken, but I think I've heard of people using chevy valves, and using the head from a 240 to get higher compression.

Where can I get the kit and what all does it come with. Does it have pistons or just rings? But ive been lookin around for awhile now and that's about all I have found.

The kit comes with:

Full Overhaul Gasket Set
Pistons and Piston Rings
Rod Bearings
Main Bearings
Cam Bearings
Stock Camshaft
Lifters - 12
Freeze Plug Set
Timing Kit
Oil Pump

You can get it at:

I've never purchased from this site before, so i don't know if they are reliable or not...

You should rebuild the carb also, or you can get a new one for about another $350 (but the nicer ones require a performance intake and header)
I'd rebuild the carb first if you don't have the funds to rebuild it and the engine at once.

I have an 84 with the same engine and tranny as yours and I'm in the same position, I want more power, but can't afford any of the fancy Clifford or Edelbrock stuff.

I'm lookin at a like a offenhouser or something like that. But it's a low rise intake and they have two. One open face and one four barrel carb. I'm lookin at the four barrel and gettin a 4 barrel to 2 barrel adapter and gettin a 2 barrel carb. My father in law said that would be great for power. But I really appreciate the help.
