Default 84 f150 wont idle.

New to the forum needing some help..I just got this truck the other day and it will not idle at all until it warms all the way up.It just dies unless I feather the throttle...I rebuilt the carb and changed all the mounting gaskets and filter but it didn't help. The elec choke is unhooked...Seems like it would idle at least some even without it being connected.I don't hear any vaccum leaks. The plugs all look good.Any help would be great.

X2 on hooking up the chock. Weather or not it will idle when cold without a chock depends a lot on where you live and how cold it is when you start it.

ok..I found the wire and hooked the choke back up..Tested to be putting out 6.99-7.01 volts with the truck running...However the choke is not closing..Is there a way to test this electric choke..??Truck stays running if I manually close the choke flap..
Edit..I found how to turn the spring housing..Not the choke wont open when the engine is warm..

Try backing off the choke housing a little at a time. You kind of have to play with it to get it set right, at least I do. You want it so the choke barely closes when cold.
