So the latest is this... it all seems to be coming from the blinker cam. The cam being the half circle, white piece that is located inside the steering column when you pull the steering wheel off. Ive replaced it twice and it looks like i will have to do it again.
When I turn the blinkers on I have to wiggle the cam around to get the tail lights to work both blinkers, hazards and brake lights normally. Otherwise they don't respond at all.
I've tried tightening it down and I've tried loosing it.
Maybe its this junky Chinese cam?
Is there something else to check in this area? All wires are secure, I get continuity and voltage through them all.
I'm trying ton order a new turn signal switch. Everywhere I look I see that the part specifies with or without tilt. I need the one with tilt but cannot find one. I called local Autozone and they show part number sw1097 without tilt then below it the same on but with tilt. Can anyone tell what the difference is between the 2 if any?
I'm not sure why your in the column. The problem sounds to me like its in your tail light wiring. There is a switch on the break pedal lever that that sends power back to the break lights.
The switch was fine. As were the wires all the way to the taillights. Connections were good as well. I was in the column because I had previously replaced that cam. Believe me ive been all over this truck as far as the wiring goes. Even ran a new ground. When I move that cam around I get the taillights working as well as blinkers. When I let go it stops working, no brake lights or anything. So I'm going to replace the turn signal switch.
I'm wondering what the difference is and why its so hard to find. I did order one through Rockauto that is for a tilt wheel. It was the only place I could find one.
