'78 F150 4x4 vin decoding
Hello all...just bought a 78 f150 and I'm having trouble searching the vin. I used the decoder on this site and it tells me it can find no information. I haven't brought the truck home so I don't have any body or engine tags to look at right now. I'm just trying to see what I can find from the vin. Can anyone help with decoding?
VIN F14SNBK7104

VINs were not standardized until 1981, so that's really just a serial number with a few extra digits describing the truck. F means F-series; 1 means 1/2-ton; 4 probably means 4WD; S is probably the engine; N might be the transmission; the rest is probably a year & SN combined. Google will probably find a few decoders specific to late-70s F-series, but you're not going to get much info from it no matter what. There isn't much in it, or any other VIN.

Thanks that's what I'm finding,
