Default 76 f150 Fusible link

I have a bare bones 76 f150 with a 360 42k original miles. It keeps blowing the fusible link off the starter solenoid. Not charging with a new alternator installed as well. Any ideas? Thanks.

Does it blow as soon as you turn the key on, or during/after starting?
could be the voltage regulator, a shorted wire, wires swapped on the alternator, bad alternator

No it blows when running with the new alt and also the old one. I can hook up the battery charger to the battery then it doesn't blow. Unhook the charger then it melts.
