Looking to buy in this year range and was wondering what kinda gas mileage to expect...

I guess it depends on 2 or 4 wheel drive, manual or auto trans, and engine. My 77 4 wheel drive with a manual trans, 351M has gotten a best of 14 mpg.

Mine is an 78, Auto trans, 351m and highway I average about 15-16, and city at best is about 12-14

thats way better than my friends lifted 78 which can pull 4mpgs on a good day

I can make mine get 7mpg, its not real hard!hahaha.......

I sure am glad that Orange and David are finally telling the truth. The fact is that, those vehicles had and will always have lousy fuel mileage. Back in those days, nobody cared, gas cost .60 a gallon.
