Default 1986 4.9 I6 Wrist Pin Bushings...

I have a Ford F-150 with a 4.9 I6 engine. The truck only has around 93K original miles, but the engine needs rebuilt. The PO had it for 20 years and rarely drove it, but he had so many rigs he hardly ever changed oil so it has a bad wrist pin. I'm going to buy a complete rebuild kit for the motor, the only thing it's missing is wrist pin bushings. For some reason I can't seem to dig any up, and now I'm wondering if there is something special about these bushings? Does anyone know where I can find some?

Or do I just have to replace the entire danged rod? The pics I've saw on E-Bay of reconditioned rods do not show a bushing. This sucks. What are my options?

RockAuto shows the entire reconditioned rod and I can't tell if it has a bushing in it or not. They do not show just the bushing.

I assume your rods have a replaceable bushing?

haven't opened the engine yet. I would think there would be replaceable bushings, that's kind of what I'm asking here. If I can't replace the bushings then I will buy new rods.I did find a link for new or maybe refurbished rods for $20, that's not bad at all. I will probably just go that route.

How do you know there is a problem with a wrist pin if you haven't opened the engine up?

I know what a bad wrist pin sounds like, it has a distinctive rattle, but a little deeper than a lifter, it's bad. Besides The PO had the truck for around 20 years, and he had so many rigs he admits he didn't bother changing oil and maintatining this thing. He hardly drove it and it only has 93K on the truck, but old oil and the occasional drive was enough to cause some damage. I found a master rebuild kit on E-Bay for cheap, so I may as well make sure the wrist pins are like new too. I want t clean slate with this engine, so I know what I've got.

Here is the link I found for Rods. Not a bad deal, I haven't called them to see if they are new, or rebuilt, or what they have done to them. I just have it bookmarked.

I just called them and spoke to a dude there. These guys seem alright, they are a full on machine shop, and they also sell parts. He quoted me $350 for a master rebuild kit, which isn't bad considering the cheapest I found on E-Bay was around $260. The rods showed on that link are actually $30, they are in the middle of updating their websites, and that price is wrong, so if anyone finds this and buys them, they might cost a little more.
