Default 1982 300-6 Redline?

I picked up a tach today with an adjustable pointer for redline or shift points, only problem is I cannot find a source that can tell me what the exact redline rpm is for my 1982 F150 2wd with a 300-6 and a C6. Any ideas?

On my '87 4.9 the redline starts at 5600. I've taken it as high as 4500ish but I don't like to go much past 3700.

find the peak horsepower number and go 200 rpm above that... thats a safe limit

Cool, what a good guess for me. Power seems to fall off at 3500.

I dont use a tach...no need to as i dont care about the limit...when the engine starts to pull the hardest...SHIFT...

if you go past that you are already slowing down

due to the reliability of the 300 i wasn't aware that it had a limit
you are talking about an engine that is bullet proof

I got the tach in and got it up around 3k and that was plenty. After 215k miles and never having any work done to it, Im not taking any chances. Maybe after the rebuild...
