XLT with leather vs Lariat
Long time Chevy owner, currently have a ‘12 Silverado LTZ since new. Never had an issue but time for something new. When Gm released the 3.0 diesel I figured that would be my next power power plant, but since then the Powerboost has peaked my interest but I’m curious of some specifics in Ford’s model lineup.
I understand there is a way to spec an XLT with leather, what package is it as I don’t see if on the Ford Canada build and price tool. And everything I google just turns up Katskinz and other seat cover results.
What are the differences between XLT with leather and a standard Lariat trim? And which option packages are available on Lariat but not XLT?
The general spec of truck I want is crew cab, 4auto, leather with heat, heated wheel, prefer a 6ft standard bed, prefer sunroof, half decent speakers. Other than that everything else is a nice to have - don’t need things radar cruise control or reverse trailering aids.
thanks for your expertise! Maybe I’ll be posting as a new owner in the near future

If you want 4WD Auto, you will need to go with a Lariat as that option is not avaliable on XLT's. To get leather with a XLT, you need to add the black appearance package (BAP).

oh interesting, I figured it was on all 4x4 models. Hmm yea I don’t see the BAP in the builder, just XTR and XLT Sport packages. But I know it’s available in Canada as there is plenty for sale online.
Sounds like Lariat is the ticket anyways, imo 4auto is a top 3 need to have. I’ve enjoyed it on my silverados for a long time so not something I want to give up.
thanks for the info. Now I need to decide if a low mileage 2022/23 is a better buy than going new
I think I would go with the RST trim, which is what prompted me to look at how to get leather on XLT. GM has some stupid package requirements sometimes, but it looks like Ford does too
GM also annoys me with their puny sunroof and cylinder deactivation, though I do like the new interior better than Ford’s
if XLT had 4auto I’d snatchone up without much hesitation. Some things for me to think about now

Agreed, my Cheyenne RST got great gas mileage if driven conservatively, and beats my PowerBoost.
But I got the PowerBoost because its city gas mileage is way better than the RST 5.3 and my overall gas mileage is 25 mpg, better than my RST's 22 mpg overall.
And the PowerBoost has the 7.2kW plug in the back, I put an pressure washer on it and could do my long driveway.
