Default Window Functionality Update

My F150 has been trying to do the update for window functionality for a week. Well, last night it went through with it. This morning my passenger door won't roll down window, won't unfold mirror or control mirror. I looked all over for the problem and traced it to the passenger door module and then it clicked with my brain that the system had been trying to the update. I checked the screen and it showed update failed. Just my luck. Looks like a trip to the dealer to get it right.

If you are comfortable using FORScan beta, I can get the you the files for you to side-load the software yourself.

Edit: Message me the VIN so I can take a look at what happened.

Update: I had an appointment today with my local Ford dealer. After about an hour checking it out, they determined that the passenger door module was bad. Maybe that's why the OTA installation failed or maybe it caused the module to fail, IDK. Anyway, they had to order it and it should be here Thursday. Hopefully we can get this taken care of on next appointment.

I got your message. All they did was try to reconfigure the module. That won't do anything in terms of what happened in your case. They needed to PMI to force-load all the software on it after the OTA botched it. When they put the new module in, they will have to PMI it to install it. All they had to do was run the same PMI procedure on the existing module and it would have fixed it, but I digress. A new module will also fix the issue, but totally unnecessary to replace the module without first trying to program the existing one.

I suspected they weren't doing something right. Then again, I don't know enough about it to question them. I appreciate your insight.

The thing is, that OTA updates both the driver and passenger door modules. So if the software on both got corrupted, fixing the passenger one only will still leave you with issues. I have never had to PMI a door module, but I have updated them with FDRS many times and it is always to separate updates for the driver and passenger one.

I still think we can fix it with FORScan in minutes, but if you prefer to go the dealer route, I understand.

It sounds like this update helps a little bit when people have window visors on. I'm hoping I get this update soon. This is one update that i'm excited for lol.

How hard was it to use FORScan, did you feel comfortable? I have wanted to try it but didn't know if it was fairly simple or not.
