Lets assume all of those are in the budget. I'm driving an STX now and also love it. Came with what I wanted at the time. A couple years in, yeah I might not mind a few upgrades. The truck already rides like a Caddy, might as well have it look like one too.

Maybe I’m not understanding something here so I want to ask, are you hauling 1600 pounds of payload in just the maple syrup because that sounds like a heavy payload. I know on my XLT, my payload is slightly over 1900 lbs which is why I’m asking.

Yes we have a 275 gallon tote we use to collect sap. We routinely collect roughly 150-200 gallons in one trip so I've had over 1600 in the back. Only happens a few times in the spring.

1600 lbs is going to put you very close to the payload capacity of most non-HDPP F150s. 1900 lbs payload is a reasonable expectation if you have HD everything else.

One tank of syrup and two normally sized 150-lb humans will put you right at the payload limit. If this is a rare occurrence, the non-HDPP should be fine as long as you get the 7050 or 7150 GVWR. Anything less and you will be exceeding payload.

If you routinely carry that much weight or have expectations of carrying more (e.g., tank of syrup with two husky 300 lbs dudes or syrup with a bunch of tools) you might want to consider the HDPP. The HDPP will add 700-800 lbs of payload over the top non-HDPP models, so that 1900 lbs capacity can now be as much as 2600-2700. HDPP GVWR is usually 7850 lbs.

Be sure to review the BBAS payload guide in detail to make sure you’re getting at least 7050 or 7150 GVWR with whatever build you get.
