Default Wi-Fi connectivity

I’m having an issue with Sync updates and I think I have tracked it to wi-fi connectivity. My truck will connect to my network but only for a very short time. If I start the truck it will reconnect but most sync updates require the truck to be off if I’m not mistaken. So there lies my problem. It keeps disconnecting so my downloads keep failing from what I can tell. It looks like I’m supposed to be getting 2.6.0 can someone tell me if that is correct? VIN 1FTFW1E82MFB07129. Has someone had this issue and if so, how did you correct it? I don’t want to take it back to the dealership AGAIN. They had it 10 days last time. Thanks!

I've only had my truck six months and it recently did an update. Honestly not sure if it used the wifi at home, or its Ford funded ATT connection. I don't care either. After hearing people talk about updates and wondering if I was getting left behind, it just happened without prompting.

The only difference I can tell is possibly the OLM started to consistently track at 1% drop every 100miles. Before the update, it was all over the place, even if the miles and roads used were the same.

Ford's explanation of 2.8 was "preparing for future updates".

Your WiFi connection is NOT the issue. Not one of the updates Ford has sent has required Wifi, they will use the cellular as far as I have seen even if Wifi is available. Your truck also should only be connecting for a short time. It would be a disaster if the trucks remained connected constantly as it would be a constant battery draw for an indeterminate amount of time.

If an OTA update comes out that does require Wifi, then the truck will likely notify you.

As you can see on the report for your truck, it says Wifi Required: No

Yours is downloading, but 2.6 is HUGE. It took me two or three days for all the files to download. You haven't had any failures and you shouldn't be going to the dealer as there is nothing wrong. Not sure why you said downloads keep failing, I see no failed campaigns and your last two updates were successful in late June.

Here is the Wifi activity for my truck. I received 7 or so OTA updates without issue including 2.6.0. Just showing the random Wifi connectivity is normal. I have seen that with all Ford vehicles even Sync 3. Although Sync 4 vehicles definitely do more calls home than Sync 3 did.

Here is my wife's Focus Electric with Sync 3:

If you don't mind me asking, where are you seeing this remotely?
Do you work at a dealership? Or is this off a website

Thanks

I work for Ford corporate, we have access to the technician tool site which is pretty handy at times. There are a few of us on the board that try to help out others that are looking for some clarification on things, as far as we can see anyway. I am not on any of the OTA support teams or anything to that effect though, my normal job is on the Manufacturing IT side. So I only have so much visibility into a lot of it.
