Default Cams at speed warning message

I now have cams at speed, but the tailgate camera has the black informational box stating “Please check surroundings for safety” right in the middle of the screen. The bed cam and hitch cam display the message at the bottom where it doesn’t cover the middle of the screen.

is this what others are seeing too? It somewhat defeats the purpose of having that tailgate view at speed as you can’t see what’s behind you hardly at all…

Hopefully Ford can address this…

Mine does that too hate hate hate it. You can use the bed cam but it's not as useful as that cam would be without the warning.

Exactly…. And it seems like there should be an easy fix…. Just put the message in white text at the bottom like the other cams…. Maybe they can fix it in a future release once they get the OTAs fully stabilized…

I just picked up my '22 Larait 502A, build date 6/28 on 7/7 and have the same message. Very annoying.

How did you get the tailgate cam at speed? Did you use ForScan?

Thanks!

In some situations you can unlock it with Forscan, but it comes with the 2.8.3 Power-up OTA Update from Ford.

As to the black boxes, you are almost certainly not going to see it changed. It's not intended to be a rearview mirror, it's for checking your trailer and connections. With that in mind if they moved it to the bottom then it wouldn't be useful for that purpose. It's where Ford wants it to discourage people from driving and using it as a rearview mirror.

You can tell it's intentional since it is the only one with it in that spot.

So will the tailgate cam only work at speed if there is a trailer connected?

No, they all work at speed at all times with the 2.8.3 update.

Hmmmm. I guess you may be right. I think the bed camera view would be more of the view someone might bring up if trying to use as a rear view mirror…. So not sure why they don’t put the black box message there too. Hard to tell. We can dream…. ;-)
